Visit to Hutton Stone quarry

Yesterday we had the pleasure of visiting Hutton Stone's quarry and masonry production in the Borders and Northumberland.

At their Bespoke Masonry Production Yard we saw primary and secondary sawing and carving. It was brilliant to learn about the functional reasons for different stone finishes which they apply to their own quarried and imported local stone.

Following this we crossed the border into Northumberland where we visited Darney Quarry where we got to witness large block stone extraction and processing in their factory on site. Here, coursed walling and stone bricks are produced in cut and split face finishes. It was great to see the potential for stone goes far beyond a finishing detail!

We recently submitted planning for an extension and retrofit in Trinity which is shaped by the use of sustainable materials.

We've been excited to see work moving forward over recent weeks on this extension project in Trinity, Edinburgh.
